Paramedics rushed a two-year-old girl to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition.
The child reportedly fell from the fourth floor.
She suffered multiple injuries but paramedics say she was still conscious.
We just got back from the hospital. Found out this morning, and my wife and I hauled ass to Queens Medical Center as fast as we could. Thankfully, she’s ok. Good thing kids are tough and resilient. She landed on her left side, suffering NO broken bones. She has a bruised lung, and a lacerated kidney resulting in some internal bleeding. She’s lying there with a respirater tube down her throat to help her breathe, an I.V., a catheter, a neckbrace, in addition to the heart and blood pressure monitors. MRI’s of her brain, fortunately show no damage. It could have been worse.
A LOT worse.
Her mother was a wreck of course. My wife wasn’t in much better shape. She was in the room when she was born. We both babysat for her when she was younger. There will be a lawsuit against the apartment, and the fucking resident manager, for letting a dangerous situation go unrepaired. And another against that dumb fuck babysitter if I had my way.
I need to vent.
First off it was NOT her family who witnessed her fall. Her mother, a single mom, had to go and run some errands. It was her incompetent bitch of a babysitter. She did not somehow slip through the railings. She was ALLOWED to play OUTSIDE the front door of a fourth floor apartment (her babysitters apartment). You know, the walkway you pass to get to everyones apartment. There was also a loose bar in the railing. Something the goddamn resident manager of the building knew about but instead of having a welder over to fix it, he decided to McGyver it with some wire. FUCKING WIRE!. She was kicking at the loose bar, and instead of bringing the child indoors, she just called to her to stop doing that from the apartment. When the bar gave way, she lost her balance, slipped through the rail, and fell to the ground four stories below.
Supposedly the babysitter went to a therapist today because she’s so shaken up from watching her fall and not being able to prevent it. Yeah bitch you could have prevented it. How about keeping her in the apartment and CLOSING THE FUCKING DOOR? I understand why she would be traumatized from witnessing it, but I have no fucking sympathy for some dumbass that could have prevented the situation in the first place. The same goes for the manager who could have resolved the broken railing before anything happened. Well, he won’t be resident manager there for much longer, count on that.
The concern has passed for the most part, after seeing her for myself in the hospital, and knowing she’ll be ok. Now it’s just the rage at two fucking morons that could have prevented a terrible accident that could have been an even worse tragedy.
