Can you wear body jewelry while getting teeth pulled?

I have a nipple ring, and I’m getting 4 teeth pulled on Thursday. The dentist says you can’t wear any jewelry while under anesthesia. Its no where near my mouth but, I heard you can’t have body jewelry in because you could get a burn from the metal if they use electrocautery. But I also have braces, which are metal, so should I be ok to leave in my nipple ring? Should I put in a plastic barbell instead of a metal one just to be safe?
