it kills don’t do it. i couldn’t eat or drink fizzy pop it lasted three days and i took it out

theres no way its easier than a tattoo or belly button ring. they are both painless compared bto that

  2. Michael says:

Have a trained and licensed piercer do your tongue and follow her instructions on care.

    Yeah it hurts!

  3. claire b says:

    no it dont

  4. greydays says:

Can i just suggest that you be very careful walking past any car crushing plants, they have huge electro magnets and you could be dragged in

And how can it not hurt!!!!

  5. nick p says:

i had my tounge pierced it doesnt hurt to bad my tounge swelled up for like 3-4 days but i had to take it out about 2-3 months later because i kept getting ear infection in which i never had before i got my tounge pirced but i also had a toothache too so i dint know if that cause it or not but im thinking about getting it redone

  6. Busybee says:

I dosnt really hurt but it swells up so say no to solid foods for a couple of days. The infection risk is higher than any other body part but the person doing the piercing should provide you with a special mouth wash (although saltwater gargling is just as effective)

You hear horror stories about bleeding to death but these cases are freak accidents.

  7. debbie e says:

it is the most pain full thing that you can do to yourself after 10days of utter pain it had to go wot a waist of £60

  8. Lirio says:

It didnt hurt when I had mine done. They made me rinse with mouth wash for about a minute which numbed my tongue. I didnt get any infection and had no problems with the healing. Just follow any instructions or advice they give you. I suggest if you work in a place where you are required to speak lots that you take a few days off. I no longer have my piercing as sadly after having it for about 5 years it did get infected somehow and would not heal.

  9. Medusa says:

ok..i had mine done about 10 years ago…and it did NOT hurt having it done. the healing however was uncomfortable. when they say dont talk right after…DONT TALK!! it causes it to swell more.. suck on some ice and take some ibprofen. it is wwaaayyy easier than a belly button ring or a tattoo!!!!

  10. gracegoldengoose says:

it does hurt – not so much getting it done but for days and up to a week after your tongue will be swollen – eating and speaking becomes something of a challenge too!!

  11. crystal b says:

no it does not the first day or getting it done you have to rinse your mouth everytime you drink or eat for the first week the second day will hurt a little from swollen or keeping it dry and keep ice and water ariound you and it wont get infected

  12. bez says:

I had my tongue pierced it swoll up so much I couldn’t talk or eat or drink I just nibbled ice lollies to try take the swelling down, I took out because it was driving me nuts. Not everyone can have it done anyway some people have a vein in the way if you’re one of these people the decision will be made for you. And it doesnt hurt because they numb it.

  13. renaultfi69 says:

I have had mine done for 3 years. It didn’t hurt when I had it done. The swelling hurt and I couldn’t talk properly for 2 weeks – living off soup. But it’s worth it – go for it girl!! xx

  14. hunnybunn..... says:

i have several piercings but not m tongue lol, i would be worried about infection.

  15. tattooedgray says:

I had my tongue pierced when i was 18 (26 now). I personally found that it was a killer! I remember dribbling a lot when my tongue was clamped out of my mouth! It was swollen for a good couple of days, although after the swelling had gone down it wasn’t too bad.

It’s did unfortunately get infected, not sure how, and I had to remove it. I’ve now got a little lump on the underside of my tongue which will never go away.

If you do get it done, I’d suggest going to Cold steel in Camden. There very reputable!

Making a hole in yourself is rarely a good idea.
Body piercings are so unattractive. You always see these really pretty girls who ruin their natural beauty with some miplaced piece of metal and wonder, would they do it if noone else did.

Fashion is not a good reason to puncture yourself.

  17. diamondg4u2c says:

it is a sharp object going threw flesh.. what do you think.. every ones threshold for pain is different…
yes it can get infected if you don’t take car of it.. just like everything else…
just do it cuz you want it not cuz its a fad

  18. Anti-you says:

All piercings hurt and the amount of pain will depend on the skill of the piercer and yourself. Most people I know have said that most of the pain comes from the following days when their tongue is swollen and they have to readjust to eating. Other people state the pain comes from biting on the ball or barbell because they are not careful

I do not have this piercing and will never get one because it is something I dislike and find little reason to get.

All piercings can be infected, but as long as you take care of the piercing and clean it regularly, you shouldn’t have a problem. Good luck.

  19. ck_scorpio40 says:

it does not hurt that bad and it does get infectioned if you dont take good care of it

  20. alwaysapunk3 says:

Personally this piercing hurt the least for me. Mine didn’t get infected, but there is this gel out there at walgreens or anyother store like wal mart. I forget the name of it, but ask your piercer if they know of it. Its kinda like hydrogen peroxide for mouth cuts to clean it. It worked wonders on mine. Then again it was 7 yrs ago when I got it pierced. My bellybutton hurt the worst, but my nipples were the most painful. So if you have your bellybutton and a tattoo, your tongue will be a breeze

  21. sprggb says:

When I had it done, I think at the time it was the nerves and anxiety that got me more than the pain. It did hurt actually having it pierced, but actually less than a bellybutton piercing. The most painful part came AFTER the actual piercing – from about 2-3 hours after through the next 3 days or so. Your tongue will swell up and ice is the only thing that will make it feel any better (or make it not feel). Eating is really not possible for the first few days, so that is another thing to consider. Good luck – I did like mine when I had it!

  22. [un]bro/ken says:

The initial piercing part doesn’t hurt, I’ve had my tongue pierced a total of 5 times (not all at once) and it heals easily if u follow your piercers instructions. The swelling sucks tho!!

  23. Kiera W says:

It didnt hurt me at all. I’ve gotten mine pierced twice. (the first time my ball fell off and i had to take the bar out for too long and it closed up.) It really depends on the person. I have a really low tolerance to pain but this didnt bother me at all. My ears hurt more! lol. It will swell a little, & maybe discolor for a few days. But mine only bled a few drops & was tender for about 2 wks. After that, i forgot it was even there! I’ve had mine in since 2002 & have never had 1 infection. Go for it!

  24. solidergurl says:

i have had mines done twice. it doesnt hurt to the point you want to cry. it goes by really fast. u might have a little swelling . but mine wasnt to major. everybodies is different. the first time i used listerine to keep it clean. that works but its so stronger it leave a white film on your tounge. the second time i used sea salt and that works good. you would rinse your mouth out after eating, smoking and drinking

  25. LISA T says:

i know loads of peeps that has that i know a lot of them said it has fuc k their teeth up i got eyebrow nipple and ears and tattoos

  26. T.T. says:

when i got my tongue pierced i was 16 and i’m 25 now it hurted but not really bad because when they were pushing the needle through my tongue was numb from the listerine but the thing that hurted worse was when they put the ring in because it was so much bigger than the needle. Afterwards it swelled and i got this white coating on my tongue so i gargled twice a day with sea salt and used listerine in the morning and at night, it’s actually not that bad.

  27. Hannah says:

It’s pretty expensive and it’s a main to eat w/ just make sure you have a sterile professional do it and that you follow all instructions to a “t.” Good luck and hope it all works out for ya!

  28. kaareess says:

don’t worry too much about it getting infected; just make sure that you use listerine every time after you eat, smoke(if you smoke), or drink anything other than water. that may seem like alot but if you aren’t willing to go through all that, then don’t do it.

As far as the pain, all i can say is this: if you cry when you bite your tounge, then don’t. Oh, and if you are nervous then don’t watch someone else get one before you do, it will either make you too scared or make you sick and chicken out.

I was able to eat a Dairy Queen Burger, Fries, and a pop right after i got mine done. it just depends on the person.

  29. Sunny says:

ouch….it can believe this or not give you heart problems…and think about it…ur tounge is very very senstive…yes it would hurt…i know some one who did it and he said it was to hard to handle…
    Good luck

  30. Vera J says:

I had mine pierced for 4 years. It didn’t hurt too bad at the time, it hunt more after when you try to eat. The tongue is the fastest healing part of your body just rinse with Listerine after you eat and/or 3 times a day. You’ll be fine.

  31. azteccamera says:

I had mine done about 3 years ago and I can say it didnt hurt as much as my belly. When the numbness wears off its sore though and you will have some probs controlling your speech and with eating. I drank lots of choc milk through a straw and don t even try eating rice or anything really small for a couple of weeks. Good luck though cos I think they look really cool. Oh and try not to play with the bar in your mouth cos its real easy to chip a tooth that way!

  32. kirk c says:

If you do what the person who doing it tells you how to take care it you want have any problems. It stings a little.

  33. alternativepunk says:

Yeah it hurts. Mine has not got infected and i ‘ve had since i was 12 (my aunt does tattoos and peirceings). I couldn’t talk for like 4 days. I’ve swallowed like 10 balls lol

  34. Ana [MCRmy] says:

Your tongue ring will not get infected if u follow EXACTLY what the piercer tells u to do aftercare wise. all you have to do is find a GOOD piercer. then your piercer will tell you to suck on ice due to swelling.Rinse your mouth withh listerine everytime after you eat. In MY opinion if u have survived a tattoo and a navel piercing you will be able to survive getting your tongue pierced. once again in MY opinion biting your tongue hurts more than getting it pierced. the thing that bugged me most about piercing my tongue was the swelling and learning how to chew and swallow with the tongut ring in the middle of my mouth. but after a week or 2 you’ll be fine. also no oral contact or oral sex with your mouth for 4-6 weeks.

  35. mytwodogs60463 says:

I know several people who pierced. The people I know are sorry they did it because they got infections. Your ears are the only thing that should be pierced not your body. If your friends say your not part of there group because you won’t do it there not your friends.

  36. riotgirl says:

I have had my tongue pierced for close to 9 years now…Yes it hurts…anyone who tells you that it doesn’t is lying to you. Your having a 16g needle shoved through your tongue! It will bleed and you will talk funny for a day or two. Drink cold drinks and stay away from solid food for a day or two until you adjust to a foreign thing in your mouth. Try using Glyoxide. You can find this at any grocery store…just ask the pharmysist. Put about 3 drops on your tongue..it will foam and turn white. Don’t swallow, spit it out and do this everytime you eat. Glyoxide will help with swelling and help your tongue to heal faster. BUT remember most of all…for the first week…DONT PLAY WITH IT OR TOUCH IT WITH YOUR FINGERS. You will get an infection and that isn’t good.

  37. kissinyou07 says:

i dont listen to anyone that says it hurts because it doesn’t hurt. I have my nose, my tongue, my ears, and my belly pierced and a tattoo. I dont think my tongue hurt as much as my tattoo and my belly did. You cant eat solid stuff but that’s only for like a week and then after that you can start. But its worth getting.

  38. Estee says:

yuck! I always wonder how people can go through with that, i had my belly button pierced and it bled, then weeped for a few days on and off while it was healing…imagine all that blood and manky puss in your MOUTH! erhhhhhhhh. tasty!

  39. nichole says:

i dnt knw what the first one is talking about but u cant even feel a thing just fallow instuctions they give you and u’ll be fine i have two in my tougne dont hurt at all

  40. Muneca says:

it will hurt 4 about 3-5 dayz and might swell up but infections are common with all piercings. Just make sure you get it done profesionaly…..

  41. cherryvalley2006 says:

it does not hurt at all

  42. athenajade says:

I have my tongue pierced and it didn’t hurt.Think about all the times you’ve bit your tongue it hurts like an SOB well getting it pierced doesn’t hurt as bad as that nor does the pain last that long either. I also have my hood pierced and the pain was intense but it only last for about one second so if getting your hood pierced (hood above clit) only hurts for a second a tongue piercing really shouldn’t hurt much. As far as I know all piercings just hurt for a second and it’s because of the endorphins running through your body at the time of the piercing. Onto the next part, as long as you brush your teeth 3 times a day and swish with listerine and don’t drink anything citrusy like orange juice (my sister did and her tongue swelled right back to where it was when she first got it pierced, this was a few days after she got it done, once it healed everything was fine.)

  43. bonjovimum says:

hurts like heck !! your tounge can swell up to 3x its original size, get your nose done instead !!

  44. bebishenron says:

I had my tongue pierced last year and found on the sale of 1 – 10 on pain it is about a 4 i found my nipple to be a 2- 3 and my belly to be a 6 (only because the guy hadnt done one before and stopped half way in and wiggled!). its a sharp pain but it doesnt last long. if you can have a tattoo you can have your tongue done!
it will be very sore to eat for a few days although the first day you dont really feel too much and personally i felt like i was going to swallow the bar all the time because they have to be so long to allow for swelling.
As long as you keep the bar and your mouth very clean it will be fine. I used to take a bottle of mouth wash to work with me and rinse my mouth out whenever it started to get sore or at least once an hour for about 2 weeks and ive never ever had a problem with it.

  45. Firefly says:

you should speak to the professionals about this one

  46. RV says:

  47. Sarah says:

Tongue rings don’t hurt at ALL to get. But they do kill the week after. It’s not devastating to the point where you should give up on it, but it does hurt. you just need to suck on a lot of ice and avoid certain foods. Some people can’t tolerate the pain, but I have 9 tattoos 13 piercings (11 on ears, tongue ring, and nose ring) so maybe thats why i can tolerate it. everyones different. oh and also when you first get it its hard to talk, so good luck if your trying to hide it from your parents.
